13 proven health benefits of coffee?

There are a lot of articles that state the benefits of consuming coffee. The 13 proven health benefits of coffee from Authority Nutrition is the latest article which I found interesting. As much as I love coffee, having too much coffee will make my stomach uncomfortable. Although I do believe that drinking coffee does have some effect on our health, I just don’t see it directly. Perhaps it takes a longer time to see the effect. Below are the 13 statement listed in the article which come together with some questions and comments before and after I have my coffee.

Coffee can improve energy levels and make you smarter.
I am still unable to solve my problems.

Coffee can help you burn fat.
I am still fat.

The caffeine can drastically improve physical performance.
I am still unable to lift the car like Superman.

There are essential nutrients in coffee.
Does that mean it is better to have coffee instead of fruit juice?

Coffee May lower your risk of type 2 diabetes.
Good, but there are still a lot of diseases and sickness out there.

Coffee May protect you from Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia.
Two down but still a lot of diseases and sickness to prevent in the list.

Caffeine may lower the risk of Parkinson’s
Three down… but wait. Lower the risk does not mean we are 100% free from the diseases and sickness.

Coffee appears to have protective effects on the liver.
Shields up for liver. What about other parts of my organs?

Coffee can fight depression and make you happier.
Nowadays it will take a whole lot of coffee to fight off depression, especially Monday.

Coffee drinkers have a lower risk of some types of cancer.
We are still at high risk for some other types of cancer.

Coffee does not cause heart disease and may lower the risk of stroke.
We are still getting stroke and heart disease.

Coffee may help you live longer.
Having a longer life might not be a good thing.

A day without coffee

A day without coffee usually is a day that I do not need to work. When I’m resting, I choose to have something else rather than coffee. But sometimes I am still getting my regular coffee as usual when I’m not working. That means there are other important stuff which I need to attend to but not related to work. Surprisingly the coffee tastes differently on these days even if I’m getting the same coffee from the same coffee shop. I suppose the coffee taste better when I’m not working. Perhaps this is the only time that I can really enjoying my coffee.

That is the first impression when I look at the picture. The coffee maker sure looks like some sort of bomb. I suppose the spikes are for decoration only. Will I get this coffee maker? I will unless I’m using it to show off instead of just making coffee. It will be nice to show it to my friends when I invited them over for a cup of coffee.

I just cannot drink coffee from this cup

As much as I love coffee, I just cannot drink from this coffee cup. The toilet coffee cup is actually an interesting design but the question of who wants to drink from a toilet cup often rings in my head. If you don’t think about it, perhaps you are still able to drink from the cup. Unfortunately human is very good when it comes to imagination. Especially if you had a very unpleasant experience in the toilet, you won’t be able to get that cup near your face.

Is prank or practical joke good or bad?

We watch a lot of prank and practical jokes on TV and online video. No doubt it is good for a laugh. But if it is the case where the prank is on you, how will you feel? Do you think it is good to prank others? Usually when it comes to choosing your target for prank or practical jokes, we have to be careful because it might back fire. Boss, teacher, headmaster, police or politician might not be the suitable target for prank because you might be getting into trouble for doing so. But for some people, it’s a challenge. So now the question is should we encourage prank? Or should we punish those who love to prank others for fun?

Personally I think prank or practical joke is acceptable if it does not cause any serious physically and mentally damages. In fact I think acceptable level of prank is necessary because it helps to strengthen mentality. A lot of things happen in life unexpectedly without any sign of warning. If you are not mentally prepared, your heart and soul can be damage severely to a level which you are unable to get back to your normal regular life again. This can be seen clearly when disaster or accident happens.

The sense of always be prepare for unexpected prank and the ability to recover back to normal condition after hitting by a prank can help a person overcome and deal with unexpected events in life. Don’t you agree?

Checking Cell phone network coverage with OpenSignalMaps

OpenSignalMaps is a website I stumble upon which enable users to check the cell phone network coverage around the world. Depending on the country or area users browse, the site will show the network companies and type of network services available. There is a signal color bar beside which shows red color when the signal is strong and blue color when the signal is weak. That is the reference which users can base on when browse through the map. One thing that I’m curious about is the relevancy of the signal strength shows on the map. The signal strength varies as you zoom in and out. Just try it out and you’ll get what I mean.

The Cat and the Dolphins

Cat eats fish. What happens when a cat met a big fish? How about a big fish like dolphin? I suppose instead of thinking about how to eat such a large fish, the cat should be worrying about not getting swallow by the big fish. Instead we see such an amazing scene where the cat seems to getting along with the dolphins very well. A little excitement for Golfers in Australia

If golfing is too boring for you, try playing the game in Carbrook Golf Club in Queensland, Australia. According to Yahoo Sports featuring blog post title “The most hazardous water hazard ever: a shark”, there are about 30 sharks living in the lake. Check out the Video clip.


I think the shark has become part of the attractive items other than just golfing. I suppose this can be a good place to train your concentration without being distracted by the danger surrounding. Everything should be fine as long as you don’t step foot into the lake. And don’t even try to find your gulf ball if it drops into the lake. Just let the sharks have it.

P/S Sharks in the lake?! It sure is interesting enough to make me go and have a look.

Tablet Computer like iPad is for Gaming

Yes, according to a survey conducted by Google’s AdMob division, 84% of the tablet computer owners play games. The blog post from Yahoo Games title “Survey: Tablets primary used for gaming” reveals that tablet computer owners play games more than searching information, emailing and reading news. In other words, people tend to purchase tablet computer for entertainment or gaming purposes. I suppose the reason for this outcome is due to the success and popularity of Apple iPad. So the surveys and statistic data shows that iPad is mainly for entertainment and gaming purposes. Work normally does not link with Apple iPad. Do you see any company purchase Apple iPad for their employees to do their job? I doubt it.

Checking on Twitter friends sleeping schedule

I suppose it’s easy to find out the sleeping schedule of a twitter user. All you need to do is record all the twitting time and plot a statistic graph. The time frame which there is no twits from the user can be defined as sleeping time. Of cause the person has to be a frequent twitter user who text almost every hour. So the question is why do people find out or need to know a person’s sleeping schedule. I sure don’t know the answer to that question. Staying in Small Appartment

I have to say I'm pretty impress with the 90 square foot home in Manhattan. It kind of reminds me of the apartments in Tokyo Japan. They have limited space but still able to organize their home nicely. I think New Yorkers who lives in limited space can check out how Japanese make use of space and learn from them. Beer is one of my favorite drinks other than coffee. Beer is for fun, coffee is for work. Both drinks have their own purpose and needs. Although I learn to drink beer during my university life but I did not take any course about beer. I honestly think that university should include beer as a course in the study. South Africa 2010 World Cup Event Prediction

This month is going to be soccer fever all over the world. South Africa 2010 World Cup Event already started. There are about 64 matches available and the world is currently focusing on South Africa. The matches already started but still I think the excitement still not as much as I predicted.
