If you’re going to have a regular cup of coffee, which coffee shop will you go for? If you ask me, I’ll say any normal coffee shop is better than StarBucks. That’s true and I’ll say it again. StarBucks is not on my list of regular good old black coffee to go for. Not to mention that their price of a regular coffee is way more expensive than others, it still doesn’t taste good. Unless I’m going for a cappuccino, latte or mocha, I might think about StarBucks. Seriously, it just doesn’t sound right for a famous coffee shop around the globe to not have a good regular cup of coffee.
If you’re not sure about this, just do a simple test. Gather 4~5 of your friends and each purchase a cup of coffee from various coffee shops including StarBucks. Change the paper cup so that all 5 cups of coffee looks the same. Of cause you need to do a marking so that you remember which cup of coffee is from StarBucks. Pick some of you friends to taste the coffee and decide which coffee taste better. I’ll bet you that coffee from StarBucks won’t turn out winner. The above test might just be too troublesome, to make it simple just buy a cup of regular coffee from MacD and StarBucks. Taste it yourself and you’ll know what I mean.
I saw an article about consumer reports picks the best cup o’brew from Yahoo and makes me wonder we might just paying too much for a cup of regular coffee. That’s my thought about the coffee that I tasted. How about you?

As an ex-barista, I used to sample coffee all over the city in Ottawa.
Some of the best coffee came from where I worked, Bridgehead Coffee. We participated in online auctions for some of the best quality beans. Everything we bought was fair trade, shade grown, and organic.
I went to Starbucks sometimes. Their espresso-based drinks are ok, but not worth the price, and their black coffee is terrible. Especially when you hit larger cities, many independent coffee shops will have fresher beans, and some even let you buy the beans green, roast it on the spot, then bring it home. It often bugs me to see society's soft spot for Tim Hortons and Starbucks when they can enjoy a better cup
Looks like it's the same even from the other side of the world. It's the brand that we pay for that much. For a coffee lover like me, it's the good old fashion of regular black coffee that I'm after. The thing like "I'm having coffee at StarBucks" just have nothing to do with coffee drinking and definitely not worth paying for the paper cup logo and showing it around.
