Norton Safe Web for Facebook

It’s a surprise to see that Norton appears in Facebook too. There are two things that went through my mind when I discover this. Either Norton is using this method to advertise in Facebook or it’s just not safe to play around Facebook without any protection. Honestly I think there is a little bit of both mention above. No doubt Facebook is not a safe place to click around. If you’re a frequent user of Facebook, I’m sure you’ve seen or even experience the auto post of pages that you can’t delete. Although that’s not a treat to your own PC but it really does disturb the usage of Facebook. As Norton Safe Web is FREE to use, so it’s no harm trying it out. One thing that I’m concern is that we need to grant access for Norton to go through our profile and information. Once you’ve install the application, you can see that Norton Safe Web will go through all the feeds and links posted in your Facebook.

Online Checklist to get things done

Have you ever used a checklist to complete your tasks? I still remember I used to do this using the old fashion way. That is to write out all the things I need to do on a piece of paper. It more like a reminder paper than a checklist. But still I think that’s the best method I can think of back then.

Now I don’t have to write my own checklist as I’ve found one website that has the checklist that I needed. It might not be perfect but at least it’s better than the checklist that I used. The checklist website has a lot of categories. The categories include automotive checklists, business checklists, computer checklists, employment checklists, event checklists, family checklists, finance checklists, health checklists, home checklists, personal checklists, recreation checklists, safety checklists, sports checklists and travel checklists. Those are just the general checklists. You’ll get a more detail checklist if you click on those categories.

Although the checklist website is a simple tool, it still works the same as the old fashion way. The checklist website is free but you are required to sign up for an account.

FREE SpyDLLRemover to help remove DLL spywares

SpyDLLRemover is a standalone tool that effectively detects and deletes DLL spywares from your computer. You can use this tool even at Microsoft latest operating system Windows 7. The best thing about this tool is that it’s free. Run the tool and check if you have any DLL spywares install in your computer. You might be surprise with the results. Don’t be so sure that your computer is safe as long as you have antivirus installed. Honestly I think that only gives you 50% protection. You need to install an addition spyware removal program just like SpyDLLRemover to give you the other 50% of protection.

The group matches for the World Cup 2010 event almost at the end. Next will be the play off and that’s where the real excitement of World Cup begins. During this period, those of you that are in South Africa watching and having fun with the World Cup event for the entire month, here’s a FREE security protection for your Smartphone from Kaspersky Mobile Security. You may download Kaspersky Mobile Security 9 and get your FREE supporter’s code for FREE.

It’s not just a simple mobile antivirus program. Kaspersky Mobile Security helps to protect and recover your Smartphone if it’s stolen. One of the functions is remotely block your phone if it is stolen or lost. All you have to do is just send a SMS to your phone and the software will block your device to stop others from accessing the content. You can even locate your Smartphone using GPS Find. Finally if the thief tries to replace the SIM card within, a function call SIM Watch will immediately block the device and send you and email with the new number. Once you have the new phone number, it will be easy for you to track down the phone.

I think it’s very important to have an antivirus program install in a Smartphone. In fact antivirus program is very much needed for a Smartphone then a notebook. Other than worry about your Smartphone stolen and having programs that can help you recover it, you should be worry about the potential of having the content of your Smartphone stolen. The reason is that information can be easily stolen when it is using WIFI connection without setting any password. In other words if you’re connecting online using WIFI without any password protection, all the activities and information that you carry out are expose. Others can easily obtain all the information by using a simple hacking program. That includes your account number, user login id, password that you use to access your bank account online. Sounds dangerous? Yes, it is. Here are a few simple actions that you can do to prevent your information stolen online with your Smartphone.

  • Disable all your wireless connection when not in use. That includes WIFI and Bluetooth.
  • Try not to use any WIFI connection without any password protection. Still if you have to use it, don’t perform any activities involve banking, credit card, money and other important information. Make sure there’s nothing important in your Smartphone too.
  • Always update your Smartphone application, browsers and security programs.

P/S: That goes the same when accessing internet using your notebook WIFI.

Do you ever clean up your computer? After months of download, install, uninstall, browsing, copy, paste, cut and all the activities that you done using your computer, don’t you think that your computer might be piling up with unwanted tracks, logs and unnecessary information? If you feel that your computer is running slow, perhaps this might be reason. Your computer needs to go through all those unnecessary information before it can proceed with your instruction.

Here’s a cleaning tools that might helps clean up your PC and speed up your PC. CCleaner is a FREE program from Piriform. As a FREE program, CCleaner is good enough for normal users to clean up simple tracks made by browsers and some third party applications. The first and main feature that CCleaner has is clean up your PC. That means you can clean up all those temp files and save files. If you always try out new programs by install and uninstall, your PC might just has lots of left over files. These files occupied your hard disc and slow down your PC. Besides cleaning the registry, CCleaner helps to repair and back up too. One feature that I like most is enable users to stop programs from auto startup. Can’t afford to buy Microsoft Office, try Open Office instead as an Alternative

If you cannot afford to purchase a copy of Microsoft Office, perhaps you might consider getting a free copy of Open Office. Especially if you’re a student and trying to find alternative software that is similar with Microsoft office, than you should try and take a look at Open Office. As for today, there are more than 100,000,000 downloads since version 3.0 of the software releases. Open Office is actually an open source office software suite for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, databases and many more. Open Office also available in many languages and works on all common computers. Basically it’s user friendly. The reason that I get to know about Open Office is that I was actually looking for software that enable me to read and write .pdf file. I’m actually searching for alternative software other than Adobe Acrobat. I’m trying to make my own eBook and that’s how I found Open Office. I suppose Open Office works for most people as the software performs similar to both Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat. Take a look at Open Office and I think you'll like it.

Let you Firefox browser run smooth and fast by blocking flash

I was playing around with Facebook and discovered that at certain point my PC runs slow. This happens whenever an application runs flash player. I open up windows task manager and finds that Mozilla Firefox used up 100% of the CPU capacity. This is cause by the flash player that uses up all the CPU capacity.

How do we fix that? Sadly there isn’t anything that we can do about it. We just have to wait for the flash player developer to solve this problem. The only thing that we can do but are not so recommended is to upgrade our PC hardware performance. This method is not encouraging because the problem lies within the flash player itself.

If you want your Firefox browsers to run smooth and fast, the only option that you have is not to use the flash player. We can do that by blocking the flash player using Firefox add-ons. The name of the Firefox add-ons is Flashblock 1.5.11.2. All you have to do is follow the link and click “Add to Firefox”. The application will then add on to your Firefox browsers. You will have to restart Firefox browser in order to activate the add-ons. Basically Flashblock 1.5.11.2 blocks contents from Macromedia Flash, Macromedia Shockwave and Macromedia Authorware. Once you install the add-ons you’ll find that pages will be loading much faster than before. Monitor the changes using windows task manager and you’ll see the CPU usage is very much lower than before.

If you decided to view the flash content or use the flash player, just click on the placeholder. It’s a symbol that looks like below. Once you click on the flash content will run as usual. I suppose if you’re playing YoVille, Roller Coaster Kingdom, FarmVille, Café World or Pet Society at Facebook, you have no choice but to run the flash player. Your CPU capacity will definitely max 100%. The least you can do is try not to run any other application. That might help in reducing the lagging condition when playing the games. Seriously I doubt that will be much of a help.

Dabbleboard online whiteboard for drawing and team collaboration

Dabbleboard is one of those online collaboration applications that I found useful and helpful. Best of all, it’s free. That is if you’re just using it for simple drawing and discussion. The biggest problem with teleconference is that you only get to talk. You can’t actually use other things like white board, slides or pictures to clearly discuss projects, problems or schedules. It’s actually not so convenient and not efficient. A picture equals a thousand words. If we’re able to show a picture, point to the location and highlight the problem, everything can be explained easily.

Dabbleboard is not just for businesses or people like designers, contractors, lawyers, developers, consultants or salesman. As we get to use this online application for free, teachers, students, parents or kids are able to use it as well. The best thing about using these type of online collaboration application is that we get to save money, energy and most important of all time. Just imagine the time that you’ll save by reducing the travel time. Take for example of 5 students that trying to get together and meet up with their teacher for a short 10 minutes discussion. If each of them needs to spend 30 minutes to meet up and go to their teacher, that’s 5 x 30 minutes = 2 hours 30 minutes of time loss. With the help of Dabbleboard, they can definitely cut the time lost for travelling. All they need to do is get online with a computer.

Another good example of using online collaboration application Dabbleboard is solving problems within factory. When factory faces problems on their new design production, the time requires for coming out with the solution can sometimes determine the gain or loss of a new product. Especially when designers and the factory are separated thousands of miles between several countries, time and money are lost just to send these designers to the problems. All these can be solve just by giving instructions in front of a PC using the online collaboration application Dabbleboard. As instructions and be delivers fast and understand clearly, wasting time on traveling is not necessary.

Dabbleboard is definitely a good online collaboration application that we can benefits from. I think it won’t be long as we can see other application starts to include drawing as one of their features. MSN, Skype and Yahoo Messenger should be among those popular applications to add this feature in. Let’s just wait and see.

Cheat sheets for designing programs

When we are using software, programming or applications such as Microsoft Office, Linux, Windows, AutoCAD, we tend to work as fast as possible. Thus, using shortcuts or hot keys becomes more frequent. The problem is we might not be able to remember all of them unless we use them often. That is why we try to make a list of hot keys or shortcuts on a piece of paper and stick it beside our monitor. That way we don’t have to remember all of the keys. Here’s a site that I found that gather 14 most useful web design cheat sheets. The 14 cheat sheets include Photoshop, CSS, XHTML, JavaScript Frameworks and Flash.

With the help of the cheat sheets you can work faster. That’s actually good as it’s efficient that we’re talking about. There’s nothing better than finishing the work as soon as possible.

Does it necessary to learn up as many shortcuts? Seriously, if we depend on Windows or a PC to do our work daily then the answer is yes. It’s between knowing the way to do it and knowing the quicker way to do it. When we start out learning Windows, we start from the basic. After we understand how it works and able to operate it normally, we need to speed up the process. It’s about doing things effectively and efficiently. Getting things done correctly is just not enough nowadays. We have to do it fast too. Especially in the cyber internet world, speed is everything.

Free instructions Videos

This is another site that I found useful - How to Videos on MonkeySee.There are a lot of stuff that you can refer from this site. A lot of categories include auto mechanical, fashion, education, food, games, fitness, hobbies, gardening, relationship, dance, parenting, pets, finance, sports and many more. I like this site pretty much because the quality of the video is very good. You can see clearly how things are done. If you like to share your knowledge and the things that you know, you can do that by shooting your own videos and upload it to the site. The only thing that you need to take care will be the quality of the videos. It seems like this site chooses the videos carefully. Just check out some of the videos from the site and you'll understand.

Make, all about DIY

MAKE is one of thousand blogs that interest me a lot. If you like DIY and interested in design then this might be the blog for you. There are a lot of ideas and tricks that you can do it yourself to help save a few bucks daily. Now that the price of oil is increasing rapidly, we all should start the saving habit. Either it is money, energy or time, any action that helps on saving in these areas will eventually reduce your expenses burden. Don’t forget that recycle all your useless junk or rubbish also helps. Let’s get back to MAKE site. Some of the DIY requires some electrical knowledge and skills. Some projects even need a work shop in order to build. Whatever the DIY projects, most of them will make you say “Interesting, why haven’t I thought about that. Looks easy and simple. I might be able to make it too.” If you really want to try it, just make sure that you do it with cautions. You don’t want to cut your finger or hurt yourself doing it.

Don’t understand SMS send by youngsters?

Mobile phone has become popular nowadays. Almost everybody have it. This is one of those things that you need to have in order to survive in big cities. Learning to use a mobile phone is a must. That’s the technology side that we can learn from the mobile phone maker. Mobile phone maker needs to teach customers how to use it. That’s part of their sales services. They even print out a manual for customers just in case people like to study it from a book. Nowadays mobile phone maker even included “Easy to use” as part of their mobile phone design. So we don’t have to worry about don’t know how to use a mobile phone, just let the mobile phone maker deal with it.

What I’m really concern is the new language created due to the birth of mobile phone. I’m talking about the language that is used to send out SMS through mobile phone. I’m telling you it’s not English, not even close. If you really want to communicate with youngsters, you need to learn up. Unfortunately, you can’t learn it from anywhere because nobody teaches and there are no reference books about it. Lucky for you here is one site that is able to translate those text messages into something that we can read – transL8it! The site also enables us to translate our text messages into something that youngsters can read. Check it out.
