The evolution of the transaction

How do you pay for your food or coffee? Cash or money is what we are using currently. Back in the old days we use barter system, which is basically exchanging goods. Before currency is invented we are actually having difficulties in getting the things we need. When currency or money came out, we saw a lot of different types which evolved from vary material to represent currency or money. Lately the most interesting currency is bitcoin. This is one currency which did not mention if the infographic. I suppose it will take a longer time before people can actually accept bitcoin as a currency. But first bitcoin will have to survive as daily basic usage to exchange goods. Another idea or theory about currency is that perhaps maybe one day the world will be using only one type of currency. In other words, instead of having US dollar, Japan Yen and British pound, we will be using only one currency for all. The concept is basically the same as the launching of Euro currency which combining several currencies of Europe.

iPhone 5 Coming Out End of Year 2011

According to the blog post title “Apple to ship new iPhone in September: sources” from Yahoo Finance, iPhone will be out in the market end of this year. The new iPhone will have a faster processor and might still have a larger market. I suppose people might just trade in their previous generation of iPhone for the latest version. I suppose it’s the sensation of having the latest iPhone which makes people feel great and happy. I guess this Apple is not much different from the apple Adam and Eve had.

Yahoo is shutting down MyBlogLog

Yahoo is shutting down MyBlogLog and termination will be done on 24th May 2011. As an option, Yahoo has suggested that we move on to try out Yahoo Pulse. I have been using MyBlogLog for some time and I’ve tried Yahoo Pulse, but still I prefer MyBlogLog better.

The reason is simple. MyBlogLog provides the services I want but Yahoo Pulse do not. I have much control over MyBlogLog and the service is built for the benefits of users. I get to promote my blogs, gain traffic and built tags and backlinks to my blogs. Yahoo Pulse does not give much freedom to users to do such things. Yahoo Pulse wants users to interact and participate but does not gives anything in return for users. For Yahoo Pulse, Yahoo has much control over it. Users can only follow the path designed accordingly. At MyBlogLog it feels like Yahoo drops you in an island and you’re free to do almost anything.

P/S: I just hope that somebody out there will purchase MyBlogLog from Yahoo and keeps the service alive. I’m sure with some modification and changes, MyBlogLog and become big and profitable. There is absolutely no reason to just shut it down.

The things about Warranty

As a consumer, the so call warranty seems to becoming an enemy instead of a friend. Back from the time when the word warranty introduced, it sounds like a guardian who protects customers from any faulty in a particular period. Now customers need to pay extra for extended warranty. Worst of all, the word warranty becomes a method to persuade customers to buy products.

At the beginning, warranty is a risk bare by sellers so that customers feel safe using the product. That means a certain period of time, any faulty will bear by seller. Sellers need to be confident with the products as those are the promises saying that their products are good. Customers don’t have to worry about anything within the warranty period. That’s considering a guarantee from the seller. Those products definitely won’t have any problem within the warranty period. Some of them even work fine for a long time after the warranty period expired.

Nowadays they give customers a very long period of warranty. Not because the products are able to stay good for that period, but it’s a method to boost sales. There is absolutely nothing to do with products being a good boy within the warranty period. For some sellers, I still able to accept the one to one exchange if the product happens to broke down within the warranty period. For this, they already calculated the cost of possible faulty products and included into the price of the products sold. That means sellers are able to earn more than enough to pay for the faulty products.

The worst case of making use of warrant by the sellers is exchanging parts or products for free but customers need to pay for the labor cost. In this case usually the period of warranty given is long and there is nothing to do with products being good within the warranty period. Some warranty even goes until 5 to 10 years. They impose such a long period of warranty because they want customers to go back to them when there is something wrong with the products. One of the good examples for such case is cars. In order to keep on enjoying the warranty period, customers need to send in their cars only to the appointed service center. There is one guarantee that customers will see clearly which is there will certainly something break down within the period of warranty. There will definitely a need to exchange faulty parts and the labor cost will be expensive. The labor cost includes the cost of the spare parts and the revenue. At the end of the day, service center is still a business to make money. There is no such thing as free services and warranty which does not required payment. In other words it is just another business trick to make money from customers after sales.

P/S: The true meaning of warranty is that customers are guaranteed without any faulty within the given period. Besides if products are well design without any problems, there is no need for warranty. Spare me the warranty and just give me good products.

Protect yourself when going for a job interview

When we go for a job interview, we tend to have a mindset to do whatever it takes to get the job interview success. Especially when we desperately need the job to cover debts and feed the family, we’ll say yes and take up any challenge. If you’re looking for a job and it’s the first time that you’re going for a job interview, you need to read this. According to an article from Yahoo Finance title “8 things employers aren’t allowed to ask you”, there are questions that consider personal and have nothing to do with the job. Below is the list of 8 questions.

  1. How old are you?
  2. Are you married?
  3. Are you a US citizen?
  4. Do you have any disabilities?
  5. Do you take drugs, smoke or drink?
  6. What religion do you practice?
  7. What is your race?
  8. Are you pregnant?

We know that employers want to know if our personal life affected our work performance or has a negative impact to our work. But still that’s not the reason to reject employment. We have to know our rights as an employee. Discrimination often took place all around us. Sadly not all cases are reported.

P/S: Although those are question that employers shouldn’t ask, you’ll find that many of them still ask. If they do, it’s better to find out why the question is asked. Sometimes it might just for the good intention for the employees’ health and benefits. At the end of the day, you’re not just trying to get a job but a working environment that suits you. It’s for your own sake.

How Much Salary Should You get for your Job?

Economic is down, market is unpredictable and companies are tighten budget. For most people, it is considered to be good or lucky to be able to keep their current job. No doubt there is a big fluctuation of jobs around the world. Some jobs that used to be hot and highly demanded might not be as attractive as it used to be. Lots of new jobs and positions are on the rise depending on the location and market. There are lots of changes took place currently. One thing for sure, we learn that there is no absolute stable or safe jobs that we can work forever. Depending on the situation and market change, certain jobs can be outdated or lost in just a short period of time. In order to counter for the changes, we as an employee must keep on learning and update ourselves to cater for the change of work tasks. Relaying on just one single skill might just be too risky. The most common example that we experience is that careers we used to dream of when we were kids might not be as demanded as it used to be right after we graduated. Some jobs are just good and demanded only for a certain period of time.

Given the situation job market right now, is it possible for us to ask for high salary? I suppose it depends on facts like your education level, company size, experience, location and the job market. If you’re trying to get the best deal of salary offered by company, perhaps you might want to check out this article call “Salary Secrets Your Employer Doesn’t Want You to Know”.  According to the article, there are certain points that you need to take note if you want to get a higher salary.

Employers don’t always offer a fair salary.
Well, I don’t think the word fair existed in employee’s dictionary when it comes to the issue of salary. There are 3 words that employees categorize the amount of salary given. They are “low”, “High” and “Enough to survive”. Obviously employees will only choose “High” or “Enough to survive”. Besides only employers mention the word fair salary, didn’t you realize?

You can negotiate your salary in a tight job market.
This depends on your boss and the company. As long as the company can afford it and you’re good in your job, there’s no reason why you can’t negotiate your salary. Besides the worst thing that you’ll get is just the word “Sorry” or “No”. After that just get back to work and wait for another right time to bring out the same topic again.

New hires sometimes earn more than long term employees.
I think this is the reason why employees are advice not to discuss their salary among each other.

Your performance doesn’t decide your pay
Well, I think employers will make you think it does but it’s not. As for all other reasons and factors which employers give to justified your salary, it’s still considering an excuse. The only way a company can maximize profits is minimize salary payout. So the only thing or shall I say the only person that decide your pay is your boss or the company. It’s just the matter of willingness.

At the end of the day everything is business even between employer and employee. Employee is selling service and their time. Employer is buying services and work force. You need to be a good negotiator if you want a higher salary. Strictly speaking we are not working for company. We are actually working for ourselves.

Google Adsense in Your City Location Boston

Some of the things that come to my mind when I read the word Boston are Larry Bird, Boston legal, The Celtics and Etc. I've been to Boston once during my collage time. Hopefully I get to go back again in future. I'll have to wait until I make enough money with Google Adsense. It's kind of sad that the program Adsense in Your City is only available in US. I hope that one day Google can launch a program call Adsense in Your country. I'll definitely do my best to participate even if it's going to take 4~5 hours of traveling. Just like what is mention at the Boston Adsense In Your City event, the best part of the event is the meet up. It's great to share the experience with people who have the same interest with Google Adsense. Stories of how publishers obtain the life of their choice through the money they make from Google Adsense really give motivation and inspiring. I suppose the one goal that most of us have in common when decided to make a living with money earn from Google Adsene is to spend more time with family. Still I have to say it's not easy to achieve success in this field, especially if you're not staying in the US. It takes a lot more time and effort to actually get to where you wanted. Before you arrive at the position mention by those publishers at the cocktail reception and individual optimization sessions, there is a huge mountain that you need to go over. Never the less the rewards received are far greater than most of the jobs available. And it's not just money that we are referring but also time and freedom of choice.

Access Internet using Norton DNS Public Beta

It is said that users can have a faster, safer and more reliable internet experience if DNS server is set to Norton DNS Public Beta. Well, Norton is well known for the antivirus product. I suppose safer might be true. The procedure is simple. All you have to do is go to network setting, click on property under TCP/IP and change Preferred/Alternate DNS server to the IP address given by Norton. You may refer to Norton DNS Public Beta website for a detail instruction. It’s not just Norton, you may even try out OpenDNS and Google Public DNS. I can’t really tell if it helps to speed up things because everybody will have a different experience. I suppose this has to do with your location and ISP. Just remember to record down the original DNS before you make any changes. Change back to the original DNS if you’re unable to go online or surfing becomes slow. Just compare and choose the best. It will be better if you can just try out 3 of them. Who knows one of the DNS might actually speed up your surfing.

Great deals we seen might not be as good as it says

Great DEALS, FREE unlimited offer, Sales and many other similar slogans are meant for only one purpose. That is to make sales and generate more business opportunities. If you’re not careful and purchase the so call great deal products, you might regret it later. That’s because most of the great deals mention are not as it seen. Well, let’s just say customers are not told the entire story. In most deals there are good side and bad side. In most cases customers will be brief on the good side of the deal and leave the bad side. If customers don’t voice out and question about the bad side, than it will not be mention.

So it’s up to us the customers to figure out the tricks and intention behind all those so call Great Deals. Here’s an article from Yahoo that I think we all should take a look – 8 Phony ‘Bargains’ and Better Alternative. I have to say, I did fall for some of the bargains mention in the articles. The first bargain is the unlimited long distance calling plan offered by Phone Company. When I was in US studying for my college degree, I used to switch between 2 Phone Companies because of the international calling plan offered by the phone company. As a result I end up with a large amount of phone bills. Why? Most international calling plan offers for only a short period of time.  If you’re not careful and forget about the expired date of the pan, you’ll end up calling in regular high rates of international phone calls.

The second bargain is related to bank. If you’re not careful dealing with the deals offered by bank, your money can slip away easily without you noticing. Some of the most obvious and common ways that bank takes you money are when your check bounds back, overdraft, having a low amount of money in a particular account. All the above will result in losing money because bank will impose a penalty which you need to pay.

If you’re using credit cards, I think most of you experience this before. Late payment, forget to pay up, using cash from credit cards and do not settle all the credit used. All the above are just giving money to credit company. That is why Credit Cards Company earns lots of money despite economic downturn.

The extended warranty protection seems to be a new trick from many giant companies. An extension warranty protection cost few hundred dollars. Sounds like a good deal? Well, only if the product breaks down within the warranty period. But think carefully, if the product from such a big company can break down easily, do you think it’s worth buying in the first place. Besides all products are designs not to break within the warranty period but have high chances to break down right after the warranty period. The logic is simple. If company designs product s that can last for long period of time, they’ll run out of business.
