No more FREE WIFI and power sockets at Starbucks?

One of the main reasons that I choose to get a cup of coffee from Starbucks is the free WIFI internet access and the available of power sockets. One cup of simple black coffee is enough for me to spend half of my day sitting in the coffee shop blogging. This is one of the things that I enjoy when visiting a coffee house. The FREE WIFI and power sockets are meant to be a service or a way to attract customers. It is supposed to help coffee shop makes more money by having customers stay on and continue to consume coffee and food. Well, at least this is what coffee house hope to achieve. Instead we find that those who are interested in the FREE WIFI and power sockets only pay for one cup of coffee and occupied the space for a long time. Those who are interested in having coffee and food will not hang out more than couple of hours. When there are more people who are interested in the FREE WIFI and power sockets, businesses will definitely affected. Obviously coffee shops prefer customers who spend a lot more than just a cup of coffee. Everything will remain the same if coffee shops are able to make a profit. If businesses are getting worst and coffee shops are not making enough money to cover the expenses, all the FREE services will eventually disappear. You can be sure that FREE WIFI and power sockets are the first to disappear from the coffee shops.

Am I right about this? Well, check out the blog post title “Sip, Squat and Surf? No More, Starbucks Says” from InvestorPlace. At the end of the day, it’s all about business and making money.
