Put a Monkey On Your Back

When we need something to be done and we need to keep on reminding somebody so that the things can be done on time, it can be very troublesome. It’s like placing a monkey on your back. Here’s a site where you can place the monkey on other’s people back to remind them. I suppose this can make you feel better as the monkey can swift to other people’s back. Instead of reminding people yourself, the site can help you do that by sending reminders emails. The idea is kind of good but there’s just one small problem. The person that you need to remind has to be a frequent email reader.

The Cat and the Dolphins

Cat eats fish. What happens when a cat met a big fish? How about a big fish like dolphin? I suppose instead of thinking about how to eat such a large fish, the cat should be worrying about not getting swallow by the big fish. Instead we see such an amazing scene where the cat seems to getting along with the dolphins very well. Check out the blog post title “Cat’s amazingly cute encounter with dolphins becomes internet sensation”

A little excitement for Golfers in Australia

If golfing is too boring for you, try playing the game in Carbrook Golf Club in Queensland, Australia. According to Yahoo Sports featuring blog post title “The most hazardous water hazard ever: a shark”, there are about 30 sharks living in the lake. Check out the Video clip.

I think the shark has become part of the attractive items other than just golfing. I suppose this can be a good place to train your concentration without being distracted by the danger surrounding. Everything should be fine as long as you don’t step foot into the lake. And don’t even try to find your gulf ball if it drops into the lake. Just let the sharks have it.

P/S Sharks in the lake?! It sure is interesting enough to make me go and have a look.

Tablet Computer like iPad is for Gaming

Yes, according to a survey conducted by Google’s AdMob division, 84% of the tablet computer owners play games. The blog post from Yahoo Games title “Survey: Tablets primary used for gaming” reveals that tablet computer owners play games more than searching information, emailing and reading news. In other words, people tend to purchase tablet computer for entertainment or gaming purposes. I suppose the reason for this outcome is due to the success and popularity of Apple iPad. So the surveys and statistic data shows that iPad is mainly for entertainment and gaming purposes. Work normally does not link with Apple iPad. Do you see any company purchase Apple iPad for their employees to do their job? I doubt it.

Checking on Twitter friends sleeping schedule

I suppose it’s easy to find out the sleeping schedule of a twitter user. All you need to do is record all the twitting time and plot a statistic graph. The time frame which there is no twits from the user can be defined as sleeping time. Of cause the person has to be a frequent twitter user who text almost every hour. So the question is why do people find out or need to know a person’s sleeping schedule. I sure don’t know the answer to that question. But I do know a site which can find the sleeping schedule of your twitter friends. Check out SleepingTime.org as you just need to provide twitter username to run the estimation sleeping schedule.

Google meeting people at Zurich

Lately the Adsense in Your City event took place at Zurich where Google gets to meet publishers from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and France. The agenda includes seminars and presentations about trends in the online advertising market, best tips to optimize Adsense earnings, DFP Small Business, Website usability and truth about common SEO myths. Plus activities like consultation, pizza and beers to get to know each other. Sounds like a fun party to me. Well, I’m still waiting for Google to stop by some place close to where I live. I just hope that it can happen soon. Or, I can work hard in making money using Google Adsense and hopefully I can make enough money to pay for my trip to any coming Adsense in Your City. I think the later suggestion is the best choice. But still it will require some help from Google Adsense. Instead of waiting for Google to come to me, it’s best that I go to them with the paycheck Google send to me.

Staying in Small Appartment

I have to say I'm pretty impress with the 90 square foot home in Manhattan. It kind of reminds me of the apartments in Tokyo Japan. They have limited space but still able to organize their home nicely. I think New Yorkers who lives in limited space can check out how Japanese make use of space and learn from them. They actually have lots of good ideas of living in small limited space.  Check out the video clip below for a small modern apartment in Tokyo.

Never Spill Your Boss's Coffee

Never ever spill your boss's coffee. Especially in the morning just right after he tasted the coffee and realize that today's coffee is perfect. If you simply replace the coffee from any coffee shop nearby without doing some research, you'll make things worst. Your boss will not be happy if the coffee taste not as good as the previous. So you either get the same coffee or a much better taste coffee, or just don't get any coffee at all if there is no way you can get a good cup of coffee. It's going to be a long day if you spill your boss's coffee early in the morning.

Yahoo Introduces 5 Amazing Free Software

According to the blog post title “Upgrade Your Life: Amazing free software” from Yahoo News, good software doesn’t have to be expensive or cost money at all. Well, if certain free software is able to help or provide the service you needed, that’s consider good enough. As FREE has become of the popular marketing strategy online, you’ll find lots of FREE software anywhere. As there are too many FREE software, finding the right suitable software can be a headache. Some of the ways to determine the right software to use is try it out one by one, read through recommendation and search for the most popular software. Either way you still need to spend some time to actually experiment the software because you’re the only person who knows if it suits. I suppose the best time saving method is getting recommendation info from a well-known website, for example Yahoo News. Yup, just like the blog post I introduce above. It’s definitely better than searching free software blindly from the search engine.

Yahoo is shutting down MyBlogLog

Yahoo is shutting down MyBlogLog and termination will be done on 24th May 2011. As an option, Yahoo has suggested that we move on to try out Yahoo Pulse. I have been using MyBlogLog for some time and I’ve tried Yahoo Pulse, but still I prefer MyBlogLog better.

The reason is simple. MyBlogLog provides the services I want but Yahoo Pulse do not. I have much control over MyBlogLog and the service is built for the benefits of users. I get to promote my blogs, gain traffic and built tags and backlinks to my blogs. Yahoo Pulse does not give much freedom to users to do such things. Yahoo Pulse wants users to interact and participate but does not gives anything in return for users. For Yahoo Pulse, Yahoo has much control over it. Users can only follow the path designed accordingly. At MyBlogLog it feels like Yahoo drops you in an island and you’re free to do almost anything.

P/S: I just hope that somebody out there will purchase MyBlogLog from Yahoo and keeps the service alive. I’m sure with some modification and changes, MyBlogLog and become big and profitable. There is absolutely no reason to just shut it down.

The things about Warranty

As a consumer, the so call warranty seems to becoming an enemy instead of a friend. Back from the time when the word warranty introduced, it sounds like a guardian who protects customers from any faulty in a particular period. Now customers need to pay extra for extended warranty. Worst of all, the word warranty becomes a method to persuade customers to buy products.

At the beginning, warranty is a risk bare by sellers so that customers feel safe using the product. That means a certain period of time, any faulty will bear by seller. Sellers need to be confident with the products as those are the promises saying that their products are good. Customers don’t have to worry about anything within the warranty period. That’s considering a guarantee from the seller. Those products definitely won’t have any problem within the warranty period. Some of them even work fine for a long time after the warranty period expired.

Nowadays they give customers a very long period of warranty. Not because the products are able to stay good for that period, but it’s a method to boost sales. There is absolutely nothing to do with products being a good boy within the warranty period. For some sellers, I still able to accept the one to one exchange if the product happens to broke down within the warranty period. For this, they already calculated the cost of possible faulty products and included into the price of the products sold. That means sellers are able to earn more than enough to pay for the faulty products.

The worst case of making use of warrant by the sellers is exchanging parts or products for free but customers need to pay for the labor cost. In this case usually the period of warranty given is long and there is nothing to do with products being good within the warranty period. Some warranty even goes until 5 to 10 years. They impose such a long period of warranty because they want customers to go back to them when there is something wrong with the products. One of the good examples for such case is cars. In order to keep on enjoying the warranty period, customers need to send in their cars only to the appointed service center. There is one guarantee that customers will see clearly which is there will certainly something break down within the period of warranty. There will definitely a need to exchange faulty parts and the labor cost will be expensive. The labor cost includes the cost of the spare parts and the revenue. At the end of the day, service center is still a business to make money. There is no such thing as free services and warranty which does not required payment. In other words it is just another business trick to make money from customers after sales.

P/S: The true meaning of warranty is that customers are guaranteed without any faulty within the given period. Besides if products are well design without any problems, there is no need for warranty. Spare me the warranty and just give me good products.

This is Why I Never Quit Drinking Coffee

I love coffee. Sometimes when I’m rushing my assignment, I can go until 4~5 cup of coffee a day. I suppose that might be a bit too much coffee for a day but I just can’t stop myself. When I’m busy, I just don’t count how much coffee I had. By the time I realize and start counting, I’m already at my 4thcup of coffee. So whenever I see an article discussing about the benefits of drinking coffee, I’ll read it, repost it and discuss about it. It’s a way to make me feel better for having too much coffee. Here’s a blog post title “5 health reasons to not quit coffee” from Yahoo Shine. Oh I love my coffee.
Below are 5 of the reasons listed:
  1. It protects your heart.
  2. It diverts diabetes.
  3. Your liver loves it.
  4. It boosts your brain power.
  5. It helps your headaches.
Especially for the last two reasons which boosts brain power and reduces headaches, I kind of had lots of experience about it. For the other three reasons, I suppose there is no way to feel it directly. Well, at least I won’t be worry too much for drinking too much coffee.

The view from back seat of the car

I’m always the person who drivers the car when it comes to traveling. That’s the faith of having my own car. Unless somebody else offering me a ride, driver’s seat is the only place for me. Occasionally when there is a need to car pool with family members or colleague, than there is a chance I get to experience the joy of sitting at the back of the car with my hands free.

I love travelling. I love to drive my car exploring places. The scenery along the road and the music of my choices is a wonderful way to spend my time driving. I don’t need any company on my road trip because it will spoil my original plan. Well, when you have somebody along with you in the car, conversation definitely occurs. It’s like you’re trap with another person in a small room and both of you have nothing else to do but talk. So the entertainment of choice becomes chit chat instead of enjoying the view and listening to the music. Plus the so call entertainment chit chat might become strange and uncomfortable if you’re company with a person which has a different channel of mind set.

When you’re at the back seat of the car, the view and responsibility are different. You can eat, drink, read a book, enjoy the scene along the road, play with your smart phone and working with your laptop. I suppose that is why some people prefer to hire a driver. But I think they are trying to make the time either for work or rest while they are on the road.

P/S: I still prefer to drive alone instead of having others to drive me around.

Butterfly Black Coffee

It’s the beginning of the New Year 2011. Having a nice cup of black coffee is still the most enjoyable moment for me in the morning. Once in a while I’ll go to my favorite coffee house and order my favorite cup of black coffee. Especially when it’s a cold windy morning, the smell of the coffee can really ease my chill. Sometimes my laptop will not follow me to the coffee house because I consider a distraction for keeping me from enjoying my coffee. A cold wooden table with only a cup of my favorite black coffee is the image that I always picture. Paper cup is nice but still I prefer a clear glass of coffee cup. With both hands holding on to the warm cup of coffee, it really feels comfortable. While waiting for the cup of coffee to cool down a little bit, I usually check out the surroundings and the people around. It’s one of the ways to kill some time while enjoying my favorite cup of coffee. Sometimes I just stare at the surface of the coffee cup and check out the shape of the bubbles form. The shape can be anything with the help of my imagination. This is how we should enjoy a cup of our favorite coffee.

The perfect cup of Coffee

I always wanted a perfect cup of coffee. Especially early in the morning right before I start my work, a nice perfect cup of coffee will boost my energy to deal with any work for the day. I’m not really good in making my own cup of coffee. The best that I can do is going for the instant coffee pack. Honestly, coffee that I purchase from Starbuck or MacDonald taste far better from coffee that I make. I could take the time to learn to make my perfect cup of coffee but that’s just too much time consuming. Check out the post title “A perfect cup of coffee?” and you’ll understand how much work and effort you need to do in order to make a perfect cup of coffee.

The End of 2010 and The Beginning of 2011

A lot of things have been going on in 2010 and lots of changes throughout the last 12 month. Still the only thing that is not changing is my coffee. I’m still having my favorite coffee every morning. Each year when it comes to the last day of the year, it’s review time. It’s a time to look back of what we did and what improvement we should do. At most we should prepare ourselves to do better next year. This year I promise myself to work hard on blogging. I manage to write at least 2 posts a day and I hope to write at least 3 blog posts per day in 2011. My online income has improved and stable at the moment, but still haven’t reach my minimum target amount. I hope that my online earning will increase drastically next year so that I can get on with my other plans. There are lots of things that I’m hoping to achieve next year, but I have to do it one at a time step by step.

This year I manage to bring at least 3 of my blogs in the first two pages of Google search results for some keywords. I suppose next year will be focus more on making use of the traffic to make money. Frankly speaking, I will need some income to invest on my blogs and make it better. If I really want to make blogging as my full time job, I need to make enough money to survive so that I can continue blogging. The main goal is not about making a lot of money, it’s about making enough money to do what I like. In my case, it’s simply just blogging.

Coffee with Alcohol

I never try much on coffee with alcohol but for some of the coffee alcohol that my friend introduce, it taste good. Especially during Christmas season when the weather is cold, a hot cup of coffee with alcohol can warm you up. Coffee with alcohol is suitable when friends and family getting together for a drink. It’s definitely not when I’m trying to stay awake trying to complete my work. Plain simple black coffee is still the only one for me during working hour. Here a post about “Coffee Drinks and Coffee Drink Recipes with Alcohol” which you can try to make on this holiday season. Enjoy it with your friends and family. Merry Christmas.

Does the flavor of the coffee affected by the altitude of the location grown?

Although the geography location of coffee grown is in the tropical, but the altitude of the location might affect the flavors. According to the post “The Effect of Altitude on Coffee Flavor”, the altitude of which coffee is grown contributes significantly to a coffee’s taste profile. I never did included altitude as a factor of the flavors until I read the post. I do believe the soil and water of the location grown affects the flavor. Well, there’s only one way to find out if it’s true or not. We just have to go ahead and taste the coffee with different altitude. It will be better to make sure that the soil and water is the same so that we only have altitude as variable to really confirm that altitude affects the flavor. There is a chart in the post above which explains the flavors with different altitude. It seems that the flavor of the coffee taste better in a higher altitude.

Having creamer for your Coffee

I’m not a fan of coffee creamer because most of the time I just enjoy having plain simple black coffee. A simple black coffee without sugar or creamer allows me to taste the original flavor of the coffee. For some of you coffee lovers, who like to include sugar and creamer, make sure that you’re consuming them right and in a small range. Having too much sugar or creamer might not be good to our health. Especially when you’re purchasing creamer from the stores, you might want to check out the ingredients of the creamer before using them.

If you’re a coffee lover that goes with coffee creamer, perhaps you might want to make your own coffee creamer. Homemade coffee creamer will definitely taste better and healthier. Check out the post title “Homemade Coffee Creamer” from Deliciously Organic and you’ll find some recipe for homemade coffee creamer. I think this is just a basic recipe. But for a start it’s good enough to get you create your own coffee creamer. You may use this recipe as a basic to start create your own flavors of coffee creamer. Having a list of homemade coffee creamer to serve your guest and yourself will be nice.
